MINUTES OF A BLUE RIBBON CORE COMMITTEE MEETING FOR
THE CITY OF FENNIMORE FOR THE 2007 LINCOLN AVENUE PROJECT
HELD ON THURSDAY, APRIL 5, 2006
Present: Dick Rogers, Pam Kreul, Linda Parrish, John Murphy, Margaret Sprague and Denise Tolzman. Correne Morgan/Fennimore Times
Unable to attend: Steve Lendosky, Gil Pierick, Karla Witzig
The monthly meeting of the BR Core committee was held Wednesday, April 5 at the Fennimore Council room starting at noon. The main focus of the meeting was to go over details for the Chamber Meeting April 6 which is focusing on the 2007 Lincoln Avenue Street Project. Parrish reported she has met with Jessica Helms and made the arrangements for room set up. Helms indicated to Parrish their speaker system is not working properly so Parrish/Murphy was instructed to contact Slack Realty. Parrish also explained the Chamber would not have an official meeting agenda rather they will use a program listing speakers, door prizes and upcoming community events.

COMMITTEE REPORTS
- Signage & Advertising - S. Lendosky & D. Tolzman - no additional information.
- Beautification of the Downtown (Design) - M. Sprague & D. Rogers - has not met no additional information.
- Streets Research - John J. Murphy & L. Parrish - no recent meeting held - have offered assistance with upcoming survey planed by Downtown Business Focus.
- Downtown Business Focus - John J. Murphy & Pam Kreul - committee is finalizing the questions to be asked on 1:1 survey of Lincoln Avenue Businesses.
Kreul will share Mount Horeb's survey questions with committee members. Kreul indicated the survey will be done within the next 6 weeks their target is to be completed by end of May.
- Fundraising Committee - Karla Witzig & Gil Pierick (next mtg. 4/13 @ 5 p.m.)
- Texas Hold'EM Poker Tournament - Parrish reported next event 4/15/06 @ Eagle Creek Inn's Pig's Eye Pub. Time is 3 p.m. to? Will ask for donation at the door due to WI State Gaming rules and regulations.
- Ballroom Dance Class - This very successful fundraiser has already begun. Both the 4-6 and 6 -8 classes are full. Parrish reported she has received rave reviews from Paul Thares
- Wine & Cheese Tasting Social - John Murphy reported he has run into a few snags. He hopes to have the details straightened out soon and be able to announce the date of the event.
- Hardees Combo Fundraiser - Parrish explained the coupons have been received, this fundraiser will run through 12/31/06 - Distribution - coupon sent with March 31 Utility bills. Rogers to check to see if Dodgeville will include in their utility bills. Parrish announced a few of the coupons list the wrong communities on the back. When Robin Meiners/Hardees Asst. Mgr. was notified of the error - she indicated she will instruct her staff to still collect the coupons. It appears all other coupons are correct.
- Criteria Fundraising Dollars - Core members were to bring to the meeting their ideas on criteria for use of funds raised. Mount Horeb had a sample budget which was used as an example. Members revised the fundraising goal to $20,000, it was decided none of the funds would be used for relocation of a business. A revised budget will be shared at the next BR Core meeting scheduled for May 11. 2006.
- Promotional Theme/Logo - Morgan - Parrish - Tolzman; Parrish reported the committee met and discussed offering a contest for a new theme and logo to use during the street project. It is the recommendation of Morgan and Parrish that we use the existing rail theme and multiple variations. All in attendance agreed this was a good decision.

The next BR CORE committee meeting will be held May 11, 2006 at noon in the Council room.
There was no additional information to share. The meeting adjourned at 1 p.m.
