Blue Ribbon - Lincoln Avenue 2007 Street Project

Minutes of the Blue Ribbon Core Committee Meeting
for the City of Fennimore, Grant County, Wisconsin

Held on Monday December 18, 2006
beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the City Council Chambers

Present were: Steve Lendosky, Pam Kreul, Linda Parrish and Margaret Sprague.

Steve Lendosky gave the following report from the Fundraising Committee:

  1. Texas Hold'EM is complete. Brent Sheckler was the winner, Diana Butson was second and Steve Lendosky was third. There may be a couple of tournaments in 2007.
  2. Fennimore Gold Cards sale has been settled. There was just over $3,000 in profit. 62 cards were left with us to sell at 100% profit. We have 20-30 of them left. The Chamber will use this as a fundraiser next year.
  3. Hardees Fundraiser ends December 31st. Unsure about profit. Robin Meiners is willing to work with us on future fundraisers.
  4. Variety Show is scheduled for Saturday, January 13th at 7 p.m. at the High School. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children. There will be 19 acts. Jon Miles approached Linda about a Fennimore Idol spin-off. More investigation is needed.
  5. Jack Hammer Party planned for July. John Murphy will talk to Jeremy Krachey about timing as the date for official closing of the street will be needed to determine the date of the party. Lloyd Tarrell will assist with planning. We expect it will be a joint project with the other bars.
  6. A Cut-A-Thon has been scheduled for May 19th at Hair Rage.

The committee reviewed the bid totals for the project. The low bid was $5,149,735 from A-1 Excavating, Inc. of Bloomer, Wisc. The City/Utility will pay approx. 25-30% of this.

Steve Lendosky reported on signage and advertising. Signs will arrive in February and will be installed in April at the four entrances to the City. Bill Wood will provide the posts. Queen B Radio will work with us on radio communications during the project.

Nothing new to report from the Beautification Committee, Streets Research Committee or Downtown Business Focus Committee.

Distribution of funds raised by the Fundraising Committee was discussed. The four large signs at the City's entrances will be paid for from these funds. However, the smaller signs to be placed along street intersections in the City will be paid for by businesses. Steve Lendosky will communicate this to businesses and through group meetings, including the February 8th and April 5th Chamber meetings.

Expenditure of other funds will be authorized through committee communications via email.

Employee parking during the construction will also need to be discussed with businesses.

The meeting was adjourned at approx. 12:30 p.m.

The next meeting will be held January 18th.
