Blue Ribbon - Lincoln Avenue 2007 Street Project

MINUTES OF A BLUE RIBBON CORE COMMITTEE MEETING
FOR THE CITY OF FENNIMORE, GRANT COUNTY, WISCONSIN
HELD ON THURSDAY, JULY 20, 2006, beginning at noon at Hardees

Present were: Steve Lendosky, Karla Witzig, Margaret Sprague, John Murphy, Linda Parrish, Correne Morgan and Pam Kreul.

The group discussed a potential fundraiser involving sale of "cards" offering business specials. We would want to partner with a group such as the Fennimore Athletic Booster Club to promote sales. The cards would feature specials from primarily Fennimore businesses, focusing on food and entertainment, but may also include businesses such as the Platteville movie theatre. The fundraising committee will contact the marketing company that handles the program for more information. The cards would be effective through 2007.

Signage & Advertising: During the business survey process, Steve and Pam learned that most businesses want to participate in the signage program being developed for the reconstruction project to help customers get to their business.

Beautification of the Downtown: Nothing new to report.

Streets Research: no meeting held.

Downtown Business Focus: Committee members are in the final stages of gathering information through a survey. Eagle Creek Inn is very concerned about access to their property for wedding receptions and other special events in July and August. Permission to use St. Mary's parking lot and the Elementary School parking lot during the reconstruction needs to be finalized soon (Margaret will report on this at the next meeting).
