The Fennimore Blue Ribbon committee is pleased to announce stage five of road construction is now completed. Highway 18 was opened to west bound traffic late afternoon Thursday, November 8, 2007.

Matt Olson, Prime Contractor Superintendent for A-1 Excavating, Inc informed Fennimore DPW, John J. Murphy, A-1 has a few minor areas left to complete which will not affect traffic. Olson expects to have that work finished by November 14.

The Fennimore Blue Ribbon Committee would like to thank the following businesses for participating in the "61 Reasons to Shop Fennimore" promotion.

  • Brechler-Lendosky Group, LLC
  • Jim's Building Center
  • Speedy Mart
  • Subway - Fennimore
  • Ideal Art Sources
  • Canterbury Garden Café & Rose Garden Florist
  • Fennimore Fitness and Tanning
  • Fennimore Lumber, Inc
  • Braudt Automotive Service, Inc
  • Casey's General Store
  • American Bank
  • H & N Plumbing and Heating

  • Cenex of Fennimore
  • Our Little Restaurant & Bakery

  • Fennimore Family Medicine

Due to the promotional investment made by these businesses along with assistance from the staff of the Fennimore Times and QueenB Radio, Fennimore was able to launch a newspaper and radio promotion that continued to invite people to Fennimore and encouraged customers to continue to shop and support the local businesses.

From mid-May through Nov 4, shoppers were encouraged to sign up for their chance to win every time they visited a participating business. Drawings were held every two weeks and thirteen lucky winners received $61.18 in Fennimore Bucks. All of the entries will now be put together for one final drawing of $161.18 of Fennimore Bucks.

The Blue Ribbon committee will hold the final BIG drawing on Friday, Nov 16 at 11 a.m. at Our Little Restaurant. It is not necessary for the winner to be present at the drawing. All participating businesses along with the public are invited to join us for the drawing as we celebrate the completion of the Lincoln Avenue road construction.

The Promotions Coordinator's office would also like to express her gratitude to WebWise Design and Marketing - John Wells and his staff for their excellent turn-around time for posting of weekly road construction updates. Also Heather McLean, sales executive with Morris Newspapers; Denise Deaton-Tolzman, sales executive with QueenB Radio Group; Correne Morgan, Editor of the Fennimore Times; and Doug Wagen, News Editor from QueenB Radio Group, who went above and beyond the call of duty to include weekly updates and news about the Lincoln Avenue road construction. They should be commended for a job well done.

The 2007 Lincoln Avenue Road Construction was a team effort, one that everyone should be proud of. Members of the Blue Ribbon committee never questioned if Fennimore businesses would survive the road construction. We knew we could and thanks to everyone involved, we made it!
