Meeting Update

July 11, 2007 - Notice of date change for public road construction meeting

The WisDOT has announced a date change for the next public road construction meeting in Fennimore. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 18 at 5 p.m. (in place of the previously announced date of Monday, July 23).

The public road construction meeting will begin at 5 p.m. at the Fennimore Memorial building. All businesses and residents living between 12th and 4th Street who will be affected by the stage four construction are encouraged to attend. Residents living along the Washington Street -stage four detour (between 4th and 12th Street) are also welcome to attend the meeting.

Present were: Steve Lendosky, Correne Morgan, Pam Kreul, Denise Tolzman, Margaret Sprague, John Murphy and Linda Parrish.

The committee discussed plans for the upcoming Jack Hammer Party scheduled for Saturday night, July 28th from 7 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Chris Easler will provide DJ services at no charge. The area will be L- shaped including a portion of Lincoln Avenue and a portion of 7th Street, between The Hilltop, Boxcar Wilky's and Second Shot. Steve is planning for one or two entrances. Wristbands for those over 21 will be required for possession of alcohol. Planned activities include bowling (pins from Fennimore Lanes and balls from Lloyd Tarrell)-to include a 5-frame tournament and shirts. Plastic hard hats and Mardi Gras beads have been purchased. The Chamber will sponsor the beverage stand, to include $2 cans of beer. Wine coolers and soda will also be sold. The local bars will offer food and drink specials. Prairie Beer and Pepsi will provide banners. Prairie Beer will provide posters. Also looking at a bean bag tournament, 50/50 raffles and "ceremonial" jack hammering. City staff will bring in the picnic tables needed and set up the fence. Need volunteers to "staff" the various parts of the party-entrance/exits, beverage stand, bowling tournament, bean bag tournament, raffle, setup/clean up, etc.

DPW John Murphy reported on the status of the Lincoln Avenue project. They will begin milling the blacktop of 12th Street on June 25th. The colored concrete will be put in the crosswalks June 8th. Landscaping will begin June 11th. The street lights will be energized on June 11th. They hope to open the south end of Lincoln Avenue on June 22nd. They will remove the east side street lights on June 25th and the west side street lights on July 9th.

The next meeting will be Thursday, June 21st at 1:15 p.m. It will be held at Brechler Insurance.
