Blue Ribbon Committee- Lincoln Avenue Street Project Update

After several years of anticipation the Lincoln Avenue street repair project is scheduled to begin by April 2007.
- A community information meeting is scheduled for Monday, March 5 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Memorial Building. A brief presentation will be given at 5 and again at 6 p.m. Followed by time for one-to-one questions with John Murphy, Fennimore Director of Public Works; Jeremy Krachey, WI DOT Project Engineer and Todd Pecha, VP of A-1 Excavating, Inc.; Steve Lendosky, Blue Ribbon Committee & Signage Chairperson; Mayor Charles Stenner; Linda Parrish, Promotions Coordinator, Margaret Sprague, City Clerk and representatives from City Council, Chamber and Economic Development.
- Project bid approved with A-1 Excavating, Inc. of Bloomer WI $5,149,735
- DPW will meet week of Jan 15 with A-1 Excavating and WI DOT Engineer
- The first stages of road work will begin with placement of signage and prep work on road detour routes
- Road rebuild work will then begin near the South City Limits this area is estimated to begin in April and run through June, 2007. This project will be completed before the next stage begins
- Blue Ribbon chairperson Steve Lendosky is currently contacting businesses on signage options
- Lendosky will give an update at Feb 8 and April 5 Chamber membership meetings. Both meeting will be held at noon on the campus of Southwest Tech, mark your calendar and plan to attend. Lunch reservations will be needed the Friday prior to meeting call 822-3599
- It is important for business owners and their employees to consider alternate parking options to allow convenient parking for customers
- Community support of local businesses will be crucial during 2007
- Please consider shopping locally for goods and services to help businesses get through the building process.
- Fundraising Update
- Variety Show - Saturday, Jan 13 at High School - 7 p.m. $5 adults $3 children
- Gold Cards - a few cards are available at Hair Rage, City Clerk's and Promotions Coordinator's office. Offers are good through October 31, 2007. Please refer to the offers and specific guidelines on the back of the cards.
- The Hardees Combo Coupon and Texas Hold'EM Tournaments fundraisers are now completed. Thank you to everyone who involved in the operation of the fundraisers and those who participated.
