Blue Ribbon Committee- Lincoln Avenue Street Project Update

March 19, 2007

Submitted by Linda Parrish 608-822-3599

Phase two of the street project is officially in progress. Detours are currently in place directing US. Hwy 61 South (South Lincoln Avenue) traffic through Stitzer. Stage two is expected to last through June. Road construction during stage two affects all business and residential properties along Lincoln Avenue from the junctions of 12th Street and Hwy 61 to the south city limits. Access to Fennimore Motors, Sugar and Spice Bulk Foods, and Jehovah Witness property is available from Hwy 61 South. All other residential and business properties must use detour route and access from side streets. The City of Fennimore's alternate side parking regulations (effective through April) will be relaxed near construction areas to accommodate residents who need to park on side streets.

Underground utilities work on 16th Street between Lincoln Avenue and Foxmoor Waterway is expected to begin March 26. During this time residents living on Madison and Monroe Street from 16th Street South will not have direct access to their property for a few days. A-1 Excavating project superintendent, Matt Olson, explained "if weather conditions are good and we get cooperation from residents we hope to have the underground work done and some gravel on the cross streets by March 30." Foxmoor Drive will remain open and is not affected by the 16th Street project.

Just a reminder there will be no changes with garbage and recycling pick up at this time. Residents will be notified if any changes occur during the construction process. Please have items in place by 7 a.m.

The next public road construction meeting will be hosted by Jeremy Krachey, WiDOT Project Engineer. The meeting will be held Monday, April 2 at 2 p.m. at the Fennimore Memorial building, 860 Lincoln Avenue. Business owners and residents affected by the construction project are invited to attend. The WiDOT field office is located at 1030 Lincoln Avenue in the former Canterbury Garden location. The field office telephone number is 608-822-3992.
