Work continues on Fennimore's South Lincoln Avenue road project - A-1 Excavating will continue work on placement of new underground water and sanitary lines working north of 18th Street. Work also continues on the 16th Street underground utilities project.
WisDOT project engineer, Jeremy Krachey and A-I Excavating project superintendent, Matt Olson complimented Fennimore residents for their cooperation during the construction process. Recent rain and cold temperatures have created some additional challenges to the project, however the project continues to be running a little ahead of schedule at this time.
Traffic is reminded the official detour route is Cty Hwy E and F through Stitzer. South Hwy 61 is open from Cty E to Jeff's Tractors, Sugar and Spice Bulk Foods/Hummingbird Haven Greenhouse, and the driveway to the Jehovah Witness property. However the road is completely torn up from that point to 12th Street. Fennimore businesses north of that point include Carr Valley Cheese, which may be accessed off Jefferson then East 16th Street to their side entrance. Casey's General Store has access off of Jefferson Street, Dr. McKenzie's office and Southwest WI Childcare Resource and Referral may be accessed off of 12th and 13th side streets.
City residents are reminded regular garbage pickup and recycling continues as normal until further notice; please have your items out by 7 a.m. on regular pick up days.
The City of Fennimore will also host their annual Citywide Cleanup Week April 23 through the 28th. Fennimore City residents are encouraged to join in the clean up of their properties at that time. On April 27th and 28th City residents may bring items to dumpsters located at the recycling center, please bring proof of residency with you.
This is a great opportunity for Fennimore residents to gather old appliances (please note appliances with Freon and tires will not be accepted), furniture, bulky items, along with litter that has accumulated over the winter and haul to dumpsters at no charge. City staff will be on site at the dumpsters from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Friday, April 27 and from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 28.
The next public information meeting for road construction updates is scheduled for Monday, April 16 at 5 p.m. at the Fennimore Memorial Building. The WisDOT field office is located at 1030 Lincoln Avenue; their contact number is 608-822-3992.
