Blue Ribbon -- Lincoln Avenue 2007 Street Project
Construction Update
April 16, 2007
Submitted by Linda Parrish, Promotions Coordinator 608-822-3599
All Lincoln Avenue pavement from 12th Street to the south city limits has been removed. Traffic is reminded it is impossible to travel on South Lincoln Avenue; your cooperation will continue to help keep the road construction project on schedule. All businesses should be accessed from side streets.
A-1 Excavating currently has two crews working in Fennimore and expect to add a third crew the week of April 23. The April 11th snow storm has brought in a lot of moisture to the work area so they will move around on several projects this week as the ground permits.
A-1 Excavating continues work on upgrades to sewer and water lines on south Lincoln Avenue. Plans are to finish up sanitary sewer lines on the south end of Lincoln Avenue this week and then move north on Lincoln Avenue to the tie in the 13th Street sanitary portion of the project. A-1 also plans to start installing underground pipe near the 12th Street intersection by Casey's this week.
A-1 Excavating anticipates gravel on 16th Street for west bound traffic will be in place by April 20. South bound traffic off Madison and Monroe Street will be able to turn west. The block between Madison Street and Lincoln Avenue will still be under construction and will not be open for traffic.
The original project timeline indicated A-1 Excavating would work on Washington Street detour route improvements anytime between March and July. That will be the case this week as A-1 project superintendent, Matt Olson, indicated they will probably work on the street light at 12th and Washington Street this week.
Due to low attendance at the public meetings, the WisDOT project engineer Jeremy Krachey announced public information meetings will be held once a month. The meetings are held at the Fennimore Memorial building, 860 Lincoln Avenue, starting at 5 p.m. This meeting is open to the public and especially for those residents and businesses affected by the road construction.
The next two public information meetings are scheduled for May 14 and June 11 or as needed. Those having questions are encouraged to stop by the WisDOT field office located at 1030 Lincoln Avenue or by calling 608-822-3992.
