Blue Ribbon -- Lincoln Avenue 2007 Street Project
Construction Update

May 21, 2007

Submitted by Linda Parrish, Promotions Coordinator 608-822-3599

Trierweiler Construction paving crew completed the 24 ft center strip of new pavement from Fennimore's south city limits to 12th Street last week. Activities taking place the week of May 21 will include pouring parking lanes and concrete bases for street lights along with prep work on sidewalks. The crew is scheduled to begin pouring curb and gutter May 29. Pouring of sidewalk on the south Lincoln Avenue should begin the week of June 8.

Some questions have been asked in regard to trenches that have been cut out of new pavement between 12th and 14th Streets. Trierweiler Construction has cut these trenches which will be used for color cross walks. Color cross walks will be installed throughout the business district as part of the road construction project.

It is extremely important traffic stay out of the construction area at all times. The Fennimore Police has been asked to start ticketing drivers who are driving in construction areas. Matt Young, of A-1 Excavating Inc. reminds drivers they will be held liable to replacement costs for any damages done to the road construction area or construction equipment.

Phase two of the road construction continues to stay on schedule. A-1 Excavating expects phase two of road construction to be completed by June 29 and open to traffic prior to the first week of July.

Mathy Construction is scheduled to begin stage three on Monday, July 9. Stage three will consist of grinding off road surface just east of the 12th and Lincoln Avenue intersection to Marsden Park Road. The detour route for stage three for Hwy 18 east bound traffic will be U. S Hwy 61 South to Cty Hwy E and Cty Hwy F and back to US Hwy 18. Local traffic will be able to use side streets to access business and residential areas on Fennimore's east side. Phase three is expected to be completed by the end of July.

In preparation for stage 5 (expected to begin October) of road construction, new storm sewer has been installed at the junction of Lincoln Avenue and 4th Street. Iverson Construction completed laying temporary mat to widen the intersection.

The next public meeting called by WisDOT project engineer Jeremy Krachey will be held Monday June 18 (note date change). The meeting will be held at the Fennimore Memorial building, 860 Lincoln Avenue, starting at 5 p.m. This meeting is open to the public and especially those residents and businesses affected by the current portion of road construction.

Residents who have questions in regard to driveway replacement and or changes should contact Project Engineer Jeremy Krachey by Friday, May 25. Krachey is available at the WisDOT field office located at 1030 Lincoln Avenue or call 608-822-3992.
