Fennimore Road Construction update - stage three construction is in progress; stage three affects seven blocks of 12th Street between Lincoln Avenue to Marsden Park Road. Marsden Park Road will be open to local traffic. Weight limits have been posted so large trucks and semi traffic must use the stage three detour which will route Hwy 18 eastbound traffic south at the junctions of 12th Street and Lincoln Avenue. The detour continues to Cty Hwy E where traffic will be taken through Stitzer to Cty Hwy F back to U.S. Hwy 18. Westbound Hwy 18 traffic will be routed at the intersection of Cty Hwy F through Stitzer on Cty Hwy E to Hwy 61 and back to Fennimore.
There has been confusion over use of Marsden Park Road for local use to businesses and places of employment. As new pavement is put down there may be times when a flag crew is directing traffic at 12th Street and Marsden Park Road. It is very important to keep in mind the safety of residents and to obey stop signs and speed limits. Large truck and semi traffic must use the detour route. If traffic does not cooperate the WisDOT and City Police may need to shut down Marsden Park entirely. Everyone's cooperation is encouraged.
Area residents living along the stage three construction areas are asked to continue their regular procedure for setting out garbage. All work has now been completed on 16th, Madison and Washington Streets. The new underground water and sewer has been tied in at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and 12th Street and is ready for new pavement.
Due to the Independence Day holiday there will be no construction work done the week of July 2. The detour will remain in place; Marsden Park is open to local traffic only. The surveyor will be working July 5 and 6. Trierweiler construction will be back to work July 9 and has about a week and a half of work left to complete. Work will also include some curb and gutter work and street painting. If all goes as expected, the stage three road construction project should be completed and should open up for traffic sometime the week of July 23.
