Construction Update

Stage four road construction is nearly complete; US Hwy 61 opened to traffic midday Monday, Oct 22. Although Hwy 61 is open to traffic; barrels are in place near the junction of 4th Street and Lincoln Avenue which will change on a daily basis. Keep in mind U.S. Hwy 18 traffic west bound should continue to use the stage four detour on Washington and 12th Street; detour signs are in place. The Fennimore Police department reminds everyone the speed limit is 25 mph on city streets.
Stage four construction has some work left to be completed; the public is asked to watch for construction workers. The public's continued cooperation during the final weeks of construction is appreciated.
Please note north and southbound traffic at the intersections of 12th and Lincoln Avenue no longer has to stop. There are stop signs for U.S. Hwy 18 east and west bound traffic; vehicles must stop at the 12th and Lincoln Avenue intersection.
The one side parking on Madison Street has now been lifted. The public may now park on both sides of Madison Street. Please keep in mind "Alternate Side Parking" will begin November 1. Alternate side parking is explained further at the end of this report.
Stage five construction is currently underway; this affects roadway at the intersection of 4th Street west to Madison Street. Stage five construction will include tie-in of underground utilities, new pavement, curb and gutter. Stage five construction work is expected to last up to three weeks. Stage five is scheduled to be completed by November 15, 2007.
Note: This report is our best estimation and can be affected by weather or other items beyond our control. No further public construction meetings are planned at this time. Alternate Side Parking - The City of Fennimore will begin alternate side parking on all streets from Nov 1, 2007 through April 1, 2008. Vehicles are required to park on even numbered sides of the street on even numbered days and park on odd numbered sides of the street on odd numbered days. Keep in mind the day starts at midnight.
