The City of Fennimore Street Department is responsible for residential garbage and recycling pickup. The City owns its own trucks and collects garbage in the City weekly and recycling materials bi-weekly. We are proud to offer this service to our citizens. By doing this work with City employees, we are able to provide this service with the lowest rates in the area. The City also owns and operates its own recycling center, located on Bronson Blvd.
NOTICE TO RESIDENTS OF THE CITY OF FENNIMORE SPRING CLEAN UP
The City of Fennimore will be holding their Annual Spring Clean up on April 22nd and 23rd as follows:
Friday, April 22nd — 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Saturday, April 23rd — 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
This event is for City of Fennimore residents/taxpayers only. The City will be accepting non-freon appliances, small amounts of demolition material—less than 1 cu. yd. (plaster, drywall, paneling, etc), excess garbage, furniture and scrap metal. Items must be taken to the Recycling Center at 1305 Bronson Boulevard for disposal. A City employee will be at the site to direct residents where to dispose of the materials. Dumpsters will be provided and you must place items in the appropriate dumpsters. You will also be asked to register with the City employee on duty. No TVs, computer monitors, batteries, tires, hazardous materials, appliances with freon or liquid paint will be accepted. There will be no curbside pick up of these items during this week. No material will be accepted after 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 23rd.
The Compost/Burn Site located at CTH Q and Bronson Blvd intersection will be open from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 23rd for Spring Clean up. After that, the site will be open for its normal summer hours.
You are allowed 2-30 gallon bags or containers (maximum weight of 40# each), or 5-13 gallon bags of garbage each week. If you have extra garbage,
garbage stickers are available for purchase. 10 stickers for $10 for 30 gallon bags and 10 stickers for $5 for 13 gallon bags. We would prefer bags,
but if containers are used, please use plastic.
Recyclable materials are picked up according to the schedule on EAST and WEST sides of the City of Fennimore on alternating weeks. Madison Street divides the city. To be sure your recyclables are picked up, place them on the curb by 7 a.m. that morning or after 5 p.m. the night before.
Currently, glass, tin cans, newspapers, magazines, junk mail, cardboard, and plastic with the designation 1-4 on them will be accepted.
The City of Fennimore owns and operates its own recycling center, located at 1305 Bronson Blvd. All of the collected recyclable materials are brought to the center for final sorting and baling. Each sorted material type, paper, newspaper, cardboard, tin cans, and plastic is then baled into 60″x48″x30″ bales weighing 1200 to 1600 pounds. Once we have enough material to fill a semi trailer we sell it to a recycling plant to help fund the program.
