Taste of Fennimore
The 5th Annual Taste of Fennimore will be held Saturday, March 3 from 1 to 3 at The Cottonwood Supper Club. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 by chance at the door. Once inside there are no additional fees for your afternoon of taste samplings.
A shuttle will be offered with pick up on Lincoln Avenue near BD’s Eagles Nest from 12:45 to 5:15 at 15-minute intervals.
The members of the Taste committee have selected Marsden Park as the recipient of the first $500 profits from Taste. Any other profits will be used by the chamber for their promotional budget to promote Fennimore as a great place to live, work, own a business or visit for a day or a lifetime. Promotional activities include the Fennimore website, brochure, ads in print and radio, prizes for decorating contests.
Chamber Welcomes Aiming for Acceptance
The Fennimore Chamber welcomed A4A (Aiming for Acceptance) as their newest chamber member. Aiming for Acceptance is a non-profit organization started by a group of rural community members wanting to help establish therapies, services, and support to those living with or serving those with either Sensory Processing Disorders (SPD) or on the Autism Spectrum (ASD), in rural southwest Wisconsin.
Their Mission Statement: To raise awareness and acceptance, provide tools and support for local families, schools, and other organizations in their efforts to assist the Autism community.
Although their focus started with the above mentioned, they hope to eventually benefit all of the Special needs community in some capacity here in southwest Wisconsin.

Fennimore is a Focus on Energy Community
Fennimore is one of the rural Wisconsin communities that have been selected for FOE’s Community Small Business Offering. To qualify commercial and industrial customers with an average energy usage of 40,000 kWh or less this past July and August 2017, who operate nine or fewer locations in Wisconsin, and whose business (service location) is located in the 53809 zip code of the community campaign.
Sorry, customers of the Agriculture, Schools, and Government, Large Energy Users, and Multifamily Energy Savings Program are not eligible for CSBO.
Fennimore Water and Light is excited to be working with Focus on Energy (FOE) for the Community Small Business Offering. This is a perfect opportunity for Fennimore businesses to take advantage of incentives offered by FOE.
Pre-qualified businesses will receive a letter from FOE in early April giving additional information. FOE is currently putting together a list of Trade Ally Contractors (electricians, HVAC installers, plumbing contractors) to work with businesses on energy saving projects. Trade Ally contractors will also be offered incentives on approved projects. Those interested in being a Trade Ally should contact the Promotions Coordinator or City DPW for more information.
Boots on the ground is scheduled for April 16-20 for the in-Field Campaign Week. FOE will bring in one or more dedicated Energy Advisors to conduct 15-30-minute energy assessments. Fennimore business owners or staff encouraged, but not required to accompany Focus staff on assessment visits. Once completed they will leave their assessment with suggested energy savings. Fennimore First Day Destination of May 19 Nation of Patriots Ride
Following the WARM reception in 2017, the Nation of Patriots committee has selected Fennimore as their 1st Day destination for the 110-day ride across all 48 states. Riders will leave Beaver Dam Saturday morning May 19 and plan to arrive in Fennimore early afternoon as the final stop for the day. It is estimated as many as 400 bikes could take part.
This year the riders will travel on Hwy 18 (12th Street) north on Lincoln Avenue directly to the Fennimore Fire Station where a special ceremony to transfer the WI Flag to the Iowa Carrier who will carry the flag the second day ride through Iowa. The Fennimore Rescue Squad members will offer brats and the Fennimore Fire Station will offer beverages during the afternoon activities. The next planning meeting is scheduled for Wed. March 28 at 7 p.m. at the Fire Station. Anyone interested in helping with the activities of the day are encouraged to attend. Businesses are encouraged to offer specials or activities for riders who stay overnight in Fennimore in preparation of the send-off taking place Sunday morning.
The Fennimore Chamber marketing committee will be sponsoring a community-wide Patriotic decoration contest along with a youth poster contest. Decorating must be completed by May 14. See the information and/or order a flag.

Wedding Swap Meets Planned
The first ever Fennimore Wedding Swap meet is being planned for Saturday, March 10 at the Fennimore Memorial building between the hours of 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. The sponsor of the event is Thunder Showers, LLC. Dairyland Donkey Basketball
Donkey Basketball will be held at the Fennimore High School gym on Monday, March 12 starting at 7:30 p.m. Advance tickets are $7 or $10 at the door. Tickets may be purchased at the Fennimore High School Ag room or from any FFA member.
Easter Egg Hunt March 24
Word has been received from the Fennimore Optimist organization that the Easter Bunny will be in Fennimore on Saturday, March 24 for the annual Easter egg hunt. The hunt will take place at the Fennimore Elementary School and will be held rain or shine. Registration will be held between 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. with the hunt starting at 11:30 sharp. The hunt is intended for area youth 8 years and younger.
Legion Meetings Resume
After taking January and February off, the members of the Fennimore American Legion will resume their monthly meetings the second Thursday of each month.
Their next meeting is Thursday, March 8 and will feature a fish fry meal for Legion members and friends starting at 6 p.m. at the Legion Hall, 860 Lincoln Avenue in Fennimore. Legion members especially welcome those considering joining the Legion and as well as Legion members from neighboring Legions.
All food and table settings are provided. All Veterans need to do is come for a great meal and conversation. A brief Legion meeting will follow.
Fennimore Area Writer’s Meeting
The Fennimore Area Writer’s Group will hold their monthly meeting on Friday, March 2 in the meeting room at Hardees starting at 8:30 a.m. Anyone interested in writing or hearing other’s stories are encouraged to attend. For additional information contact the Promotions Coordinator’s office.
Fennimore Area Foundation (FAF) Grant Application
The Fennimore Area Foundation is pleased to announce its semi-annual application period for awarding grants in Spring 2018. In making this offering, the Foundation is interested in providing assistance to qualifying non-profit groups, projects or activities promoting community wellness, services to or facilities for Fennimore’s children or other endeavors falling within its charitable mission. Total funds to be granted will be up to $2,500 to one recipient or divided among any number of recipients.
To be considered, applications must be received by the Foundation or postmarked no later than April 1, 2018. Those interested in submitting a grant application are invited to complete the form and mail it to the Fennimore Area Foundation (FAF) at P.O. Box 134, Fennimore, WI 53809.

Fennimore Citywide Garage Sales May 17, 18 & 19
The Chamber’s 2018 Citywide Garage Sales will be held Thursday thru Saturday May 17-19. So use some of these last days of winter to start cleaning those closets, basements and garages and turn your unwanted items into cash. The City Clerk’s office will once again chair this committee; registration will begin Monday, April 16.
